Identifying the swing votes of the 2016 Australian Federal Election

05 Jul 2016

With a ‘too close to call’ result on the night of the 2016 election, MapData Services has launched a ‘2016 Electorate Analysis’ map that details how Australians voted, the swing variation of each electorate and how they compare to 2013.

The map is based on MapData Services Federal Electorate Data in conjunction with Australian Development Strategies, a leading provider of demographic analysis, profiling and mapping, which goes beyond describing voting outcomes but equips users to understand voter behaviour and make predictions.

In addition to providing data on swing voters, MapData Services’ innovative system of voter segmentation goes beyond general demographics and is designed to help you:

  • Identify the different voter profiles within your electorate
  • Target campaigns and messages to individual neighbourhoods
  • Predict voter response to proposed policy changes, such as changes to negative gearing
